In case you missed the September / October / November / December editions - Footnotes is a new(ish) format I send out on the last Sunday of every month. This is the place for articles/objects/places/spaces on my radar recently, outside the realm of books and literature.
No month of the year feels as long as January. In addition to the sheer dragging on-ness of winter (although we’re working on embracing that!) the fact that the month spreads out over five dark, cold weeks gives ‘January time’ a disorienting, stretchy quality.
Not that stretchiness is such a bad thing to me right now. As I enter the final month of my pregnancy (!!! more on that here), it’s a quality I’m positively seeking out–in the form of stretchy waistbands obviously, but also in appreciation of stretchy days that offer more hours to work through the 101 things on my pre-baby to-do list. For the first time ever, I’m happy for January to take as long as it likes.
Onto the links.
In this month’s Footnotes, I share:
- The best winter body moisturiser I’ve ever used.
- Three very different movies I watched and liked this month, all of which are currently streaming. Plus: the reading deep-dive I’m currently on; inspired by one of the films.
- I’m not travelling right now but that hasn’t curbed my wanderlust. As someone who has spent a lot of my life on the go, I thought I’d share my method for travel itinerary planning (which also makes it easy for me to share travel recs without having to type out a new email/text every.damn.time.) Plus: My London recs list.
- Three chic but affordable hotels/B+Bs/inns not too far outside of London that I’m considering for a last-minute weekend ‘babymoon’ (obviously these also work for any kind of weekend break; no baby required).
