DEEP READ #19 is a conversation with the iconic publicist and creative consultant, Gia Kuan.
Raised between Taipei, the Dominican Republic, New Zealand, and Australia, Gia is now based in New York City, where she runs Gia Kuan Consulting: the go-to PR firm for the city’s coolest and most cutting-edge fashion brands. Clients including Telfar, Luar, and Heaven by Marc Jacobs rely on Gia’s ability to communicate their work in the way only she knows how: with a fluency that comes as the result of an exceptionally well-traveled life, a global rolodex of contacts, and an insatiable interest in culture, both high and low.
Gia is also known as one of the nicest, most humble people working today in New York - a rare feat in a city where more aggressive tactics are usually employed as the way to get ahead. On a muggy New York day in October, we sat down to discuss her nomadic childhood, her early days in (and later, running) the club, and her thoughts on PR in an era of ubiquitous personal branding, among many other things.
The conversation can be found on Apple here and Spotify here.
